So after about 4 weeks, mega amounts of procrastination, lots of tea and cigarettes to get me through AND the thought that my eyes were going to fall out of my head at one point...
It's finally here! My A1 sized picture of a figure curled up with wings constructed of music, lyrics and other things that in some way or another connect to my emotions. All sketched in biro pen because I'm a complete nutter.
The spec for my exam was that it had to relate to intense emotions. The figure is curled, to represent someone hiding away - fear, apprehension and sadness. The wings represent everything on the inside that is projected out when people take the time to actually see it all. These things relate to what makes me happy and comfortable with what I love.
Points for those who can guess where the snippets of lyrics in the wings are from.
P.S. Critique this harshly and I WILL hunt you down and stab you in your sleep. Helpful critique would be lovely though.
are we gonna see the finished article tommorow? youve been working on it so long!
as for helpful critique, i dunno, background? it seems like youve put loads of effort into the middle and then the background is sparse. thats not me being harsh, thats just a bit of helpfulness, i hope!
yeah, I've gotta bring it in with me. I've put it in a frame now, just hoping I don't manage to break it or anything between leaving my house and getting to college
Yknow, a background completely slipped my mind. I'll consider that with whatever I work on next - although it's definately not going to be as big as this one

maybe it could be as big. but you could buy a massive biro, that you hold with both hands! i dunno, your choice of medium is restrictive, but most art takes a while.
one of the only things i hate about art is that the time taken to make it sort of takes away from it. theres no splurge of ideas on a page, only photography really has that. but even then its situational.
well I use biro pens cus I know that I can create a specific texture, or I can correct mistakes that most people would throw work away over.
I'm getting more into coloured pencils now though - which thankfully are SO much quicker.
I write lots cus I don't have the time to compose a picture about something, but even then so much time is spent trying to think up the right words or techniques to employ so that the right message is conveyed.
curse you art!
